Hello again Walton Raiders! Four days and counting until the buzzer sounds on this semester’s exams! While you were hitting the books on Saturday, your Raiders faced off against Forsyth Central in a much anticipated rematch.
This time, your girls came up short in a 54-66 loss. Junior Emily Lee scored 12 points, with another great outing from beyond the arc, sinking 4 three pointers. Senior Ashley McDonald gave Coach Kelterborn some valuable minutes, matching up against some of the best players on Forsyth Central and holding her own on the defensive end. Freshman Liz Williams also made a contribution on the offensive end, making Forsyth key in on her at all times, whether beyond the perimeter or in the paint. The girls look to get bak on track after a slight slump, with an away game at Osborne High School this Friday at 6 PM. The last time these two teams faced off, our girls won, with the final score 52-45 Raiders, but they’ll need all the help they can get on Friday in hostile Osborne territory, so show up and show out for your Lady Raiders!
Your boys dominated Forsyth Central again on Saturday, 57-37, Raiders. With the boys determined to make as much of an impact as Walton’s alumni, who made an appearance at halftime, they dominated from the start, with a 19-2 run in the first quarter, led by 4 straight three pointers by Dylan Pumpian. That makes 13, yes 13, shots from deep in the last 4 games. Junior Tony Adenupe came out focused this week, as he chipped in 6 points, but more importantly was a force on the defensive end, holding his matchup in check throughout. Your boys will follow the girls on Friday at 7:30 at Osborne. They came away with a big win vs. Osborne last time they met, winning 67-48 in the opener. Looking to extend the winning streak to three games, the boys need every last member of Raider Nation to come out and support!
With two big games coming up for the program, YOU can be the difference. Your Raiders can only go so far without your support, so show up and show out on Friday!
